Paris Apartments - some  suggestions

You are thinking about staying in Paris?

We would suggest that if you are also considering visiting rural France (are you?), then you should look at booking your rural accommodations and trips first, then top and tail Paris around those weeks booked.

See map below.

Here's why you should fit Paris around the rest of your itinerary

  • It enables you to get back to Paris on the Friday or weekend then stay the odd days till your flight leaves possibly in the following week.
  • If there is a lightning transport strike ('une grève surprise'- a well-known phenomenon in France)  you will not have to panic about getting to the Airport. You can just grab a taxi.
  • On arrival in Paris you get to your hotel or apartment by train, bus, taxi or airport shuttle then, after your stay in Paris, collect your hire car from some depot on the outskirts such as St Cloud or Gare de Lyon. That way you'll avoid the Paris traffic.
(Or take a leisurely stroll to the TGV station of you don't have a hire car.)
  • It is much easier to find a Paris accommodation than a country one as there are so many more of them in Paris. So it is more logical to book the country cottages first then look at Paris.
We hear so often from people who needlessly restrict their opportunities by not following this wise advice.

Where to stay? Apartment or Hotel?

It depends on how long you plan to stay. For stays of four days or more then one of the apartments below is very suitable. For shorter stays it is better to choose a good hotel (suggestions below also).
